A ticket that rides in Apple or Google Wallet
The buyer keeps the night in their phone's wallet, with the date, the venue and the same QR the door reads.
Every ticket has its own page, at pasal.studio/t/ and the ticket code, and the buyer reaches it from the ticket email. On that page, under the QR, are Add to Apple Wallet and Save to Google Wallet. Either one puts the night in the phone's own wallet, where a ticket is easier to find at a gate than an email is.
What the pass carries
- Your shop's name and colour, and the event as the headline.
- The date, the venue and the door time, read from the event itself.
- The ticket type and the holder's name, with Guest marked on a giveaway.
- The same QR the door reads, carrying the ticket code and nothing else.
Two tickets to one night sit together as one group in the wallet rather than as two loose cards, and a pass stops being current twelve hours after the start time, which is the same point the door stops admitting on it.
The lock screen, and the pin that puts it there
A pass with a start time offers itself around showtime on its own, with nothing for you to set. The event editor also has a Wallet pass pin field: press Find the pin from the venue and Pasal looks up the coordinates for the venue you typed. With a pin on the event, a ticket added to Apple Wallet also comes up when the holder is near the place.
The pin is optional and a wrong one is worse than none, so check it on the map before you leave it. An event with no pin still has a perfectly good pass.
Apple, and how far Google has been checked
Apple Wallet is the half we have held in a hand and watched work. The Google Wallet button is live and builds a real pass, and we have not yet watched one land on an Android phone ourselves, so we are not going to tell you how it will behave there. Either way the ticket email and the ticket page are the copies that always work, and Save as PDF on that page is the one to keep for a guest with no smartphone.
The door has not changed
A pass is a nicer place to keep a ticket. It is not a different ticket. The door reads the same code off the wallet screen as off the email, off the PDF, or off the printed page, and the scanner answers the same way. See Run the door with the ticket scanner.
So the pass never argues with the night. It is only offered on a ticket that is paid for and not cancelled, and it is refused for an event that is still a draft or already marked ended. And whatever a guest holds, the door refuses a ticket to an ended or draft event before it looks at anything else: put the night back on sale and its tickets scan again.
